One of my favorite things about branding photography is getting to visually tell someone’s story — who they are, what they do, and how they connect with others.

Recently, I had the opportunity to create a branding session for a Roseburg therapist who was opening her own private practice. Her work blends talk therapy and music therapy, offering a truly holistic and creative approach to emotional healing.

Together, we set out to design a session that captured her warmth, professionalism, and passion — and to visually represent the safe, grounded space she’s building for her clients.
Starting Outdoors: Natural Light at Discovery Garden
We began the session at Discovery Garden in Roseburg, Oregon, one of my favorite outdoor locations for natural light portraits and versatile settings. The soft greenery and gentle curves of the garden pathways made the perfect backdrop for approachable, lifestyle-style headshots.
Here, I captured images that feel open and genuine — ideal for her website’s “About” page and social media introductions. The combination of professional yet relaxed settings helps future clients see the human side of her practice right away. We brought out her guitar and let her play some music.
Studio Thirteen: Crafting the Professional Side
After our outdoor session, we moved to my Studio Thirteen space downtown. Studio Thirteen is designed to be flexible — with ample furniture, lighting options, and backdrops that allow us to create everything from clean, minimal headshots to fully staged brand environments. Did you know my family owns the store that is connected to? Meaning, we have over 300 pieces of furniture to play with and a full warehouse.
We started with traditional headshots using controlled studio lighting, then transitioned into a mock virtual consultation setup, complete with a styled desk and computer. This setup gave her the ability to showcase her telehealth offerings and demonstrate what a virtual client experience might look like.
Staging the Office: From Vision to Reality
Next, we transformed the studio into a complete office mockup using furniture and décor pieces from my collection — two coordinating couches, bookshelves, a coffee table, and soft accent lighting to make the space feel warm and lived in.
On the shelves, we included therapy books and resources from her own education and training — small but meaningful details that tell a story of expertise, care, and authenticity.
This part of the shoot brought everything together: the professionalism of private practice, the comfort of a welcoming space, and the personal touch of someone deeply invested in helping others heal.
Why Branding Photography Matters
Branding sessions like this go beyond headshots — they help you show clients who you are before they ever meet you. From therapists and real estate agents to small business owners and creatives, I love helping professionals across Roseburg create cohesive, story-driven imagery that reflects their brand values.
If you’re opening a practice, launching a business, or simply updating your professional presence, Studio Thirteen offers a fully customizable setting — from clean, modern setups to staged spaces with furniture, props, and natural light.
FAQ: Roseburg Branding Photography with McKenzie Strong Photography
What’s included in a branding photography session?
Every branding session is completely customizable! Together we’ll create a plan that fits your business, personality, and goals. Sessions can include a mix of in-studio headshots, outdoor branding photos, on-site lifestyle images at your workspace, or staged setups at Studio Thirteen. Whether you need professional portraits, lifestyle imagery, or product-driven content — we’ll design a cohesive session that tells your story beautifully.
Where are branding sessions held?
Branding sessions can take place at Studio Thirteen (located in historic downtown Myrtle Creek, just south of Roseburg), outdoors at your favorite local spots like Discovery Garden or downtown Roseburg, or even at your own business location. Many clients love blending studio headshots with outdoor and in-office images for a full visual brand experience.
What makes Studio Thirteen unique for business and branding photos?
Studio Thirteen isn’t just a blank studio — it’s a creative playground. The studio includes access to an extensive warehouse of furniture and props that’s complimentary for every branding client. Choose from an ever-changing collection of couches, sectionals, desks, dining tables, rugs, fireplaces, bookcases, and coffee tables to stage your session exactly how you envision it. This means you can design scenes that reflect your brand — whether that’s cozy and inviting, modern and professional, or creative and colorful.
Can I use Studio Thirteen’s furniture catalog for my session?
Yes! All branding clients receive complimentary access to the Studio Thirteen furniture catalog. We’ll hand-select pieces that match your brand’s style and tone — from neutral and minimal to rich and textured. These curated furniture options help elevate your shoot and give your images a polished, editorial feel.
Can I combine headshots and branding photos in one session?
Yes — and that’s exactly what most professionals do! We can start with clean, polished headshots in-studio, then move into lifestyle branding photos that show your process, environment, or products. It’s the perfect way to build a full collection of images you can use across your website, social media, and marketing materials.
Do you work with businesses outside Roseburg?
Yes! I often work with small businesses throughout Douglas County — including Roseburg, Myrtle Creek, Winston, Canyonville, and Sutherlin. If you’re nearby, I can come to you, or you’re always welcome to the studio for a fully staged session.
